In ko razmišljam o zaužitih sladkarijah in ogljikovih hidratih v našem gospodinjstvu me kar malo zaskrbi.
We had
quite a stressful and tense week, including two visits to the ER – mine and my father
in laws. Now we are better, but we will have to learn some new things and make
some changes. Father in law is in fact diagnosed with diabetes and now we're
waiting, if the pills and diet will do the trick or some other measures will be
needed.
Father in
law prepares the majority of meals himself, but also my husband and I must know
the rules and restrictions. And so we have another week revolving around food.
Last
weekend we started the project of home lunches for Manugirl No.1. She just could
not get used to the school meals and was frequently hungry. Now I give her a
snack to take to school and try to serve her lunch as soon as possible after coming
home. It took me two days last weekend to prepare and cook and my freezer is
now packed.
I was also
thinking a lot what snacks can I give her to school and found a lot of delicious
recipes.
Now, hearing
about the diet in diabetes everywhere I look I only see sugar and flour and carbohydrates
and all the recipes suddenly seem so unhealthy.
Then I look
at the pictures that I have prepared for posting and again all I see is sugar...
Now so many
different thoughts are going through my mind. What is allowed, what is too much,
how much is still OK? And when I think about all the sweets and carbohydrates that
we consume in our household I am quite worried.
But they
are so good.
Therefore,
today I will not post a recipe for a new goodness (but definitely recipes are
still to come, because I am not going to completely give up sweets), but I'll
show you a shopping bag. This shopping bag is enough to bring home all the healthy
ingredients you will need for a healthy and wholesome meal.
